Janelle awarded 2010 SA Young Credit Professional
Schneider Electric Credit Controller, Janelle Muegge has taken out top honours for the State’s 2010 Young Credit Professional of the Year.
The Awards were held at the Adelaide Convention Centre on Wednesday evening, August 18. Janelle topped a quality field of six candidates ranging in backgrounds from accounting to debt collection.
Organised by the Australian Institute of Credit management, the award is eligible to AICM Members under the age of 30 and employed in the credit industry.
The judging panel includes senior credit professionals, who evaluated the candidates’ work achievements, education, self improvement and interview performance.
Janelle has been with Schneider Electric for two and a half years and works on the Clipsal portfolio of major account customers. It is the first time that a Schneider Electric employee has won the award, although other team members from the company have previously been finalists.
Schneider Electric Group Credit Manager, Robert Jackson spoke of Janelle’s enthusiasm for her role and ability to build relationship with customers.
“She has achieved this with her tenacity yet friendly nature in getting the best out of people. Her efforts have had a major impact on reducing outstanding debt.”
“Janelle is a credit to our close-knit Accounts Receivable team of 20 staff with particular mention to Team Leader Gloria Cruz.”
Janelle said it was an honour to receive the award and recognition of her efforts.
“Chasing accounts is not an easy job. You need to understand the client’s needs as well as the company’s trading terms and come up with a mutually beneficial outcome.”
“This requires negotiation skills, trust, respect and honesty. You don’t ever want to get to a point where you stop communicating.”
Trevor Goodwin, President AICM S.A. Division said that Janelle is a credit to the industry.
Janelle displayed attributes that indicate she will grow to be a role model to other aspiring Credit Professionals and an Ambassador for the AICM.
She will now go on to represent South Australia at the AICM National Conference to be held in Queensland during October 13-15.
