25 Year Club achieves 400 milestone
Few companies can boast of a 25 Year Club for employees as long and distinguished as Clipsal Australia’s. The list, which commenced with company founder, Alfred Gerard in 1907, now boasts a membership with more than 400 names.
The 400 milestone was achieved on the evening of Friday, November 6 when 24 new members were inducted into the roll-call of honour. More than 130 guests celebrated the event at The Works but not before 60 guests were brought to Clipsal’s new office at Gepps Cross for a site inspection, factory tour and nostalgic look at Clipsal’s 90 year history display in The Gallery.
Among the exhibits was a giant board listing all staff members who have achieved the 25 year and 50 year service milestones. A new name was added to the 50 Year list, Technical Proofreader, Dennis Perry. Dennis is still providing an invaluable service to the company in the Communications Department, running his eagle eye over technical documents and marketing literature.
Upon returning to The Works for a black tie dinner, Clipsal Executive General Manager, Damien Cummins welcomed guests with a stirring speech, praising them for their contribution to Clipsal’s success. He said that their achievements and team spirit had carried over into the new premises. “We’re still a team.” Though recent economic times had been a challenge, “Clipsal will be in a solid position when the economic turnaround comes.”
Since 2004, the 25 Year Club function has been shared and hosted with Gerard Corporation. Former Clipsal Chairman and Managing Director, Robert Gerard AO gave an emotional address reiterating Damien’s teamwork theme and praising the camaraderie of 25 Year Club Members.
